Monifieth Befriending Scheme - bringing friendship to socially isolated older people in Monifieth and recently bereaved people of any age.

About Us

We are governed by a Management Team of 8 volunteers, including a service user, and  volunteer befrienders. They have extensive skills and experience, having had involvement with Social Care, Sheltered Housing, Samaritans, Victim Support and SoundSense Befriending Project. Business backgrounds include healthcare, administration and local government. Posts held are Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Fundraiser.

Lindsey and Chris, our Project Co-ordinators, are responsible for the day-to-day running of Monifieth Befriending Scheme, and have undertaken relevant training to ensure they are fully equipped to carry out their roles.

  • They recruit, screen and train our volunteers. They then match them to suitable clients and support them in their befriending relationships.
  • In the event of volunteer absence through sickness or holiday, they provide this service, if requested by the client.
  • They have responsibility for evaluating the success of our project, and investigating grant funding for our future sustainability.

Monthly team meetings are held, where the Project Co-ordinators report on the progress and day-to-day activities of the project.
